Nightmare on Photog Street

December 09, 2013

One of the worst nightmares for a photog is a corrupted memory card.

I have had a few corrupted cards in the past but fortunately never on deadline. Well that changed when I was out on assignment over the weekend. After finishing up a Christmas parade in Aberdeen, Md. I headed out to the next shoot.

Arriving a little early to the assignment I decided to start editing the previous assignment. I put the card into the reader and nothing. My heart sank. I tried again and again hoping some magic would fix it. But nothing.

Put the card back in the camera only to get an error message saying the card was unreadable.

Panic.

I started trying anything but nothing would work. I ended up having to completely reformat the card and run recovery software. I was able to get back the images and push them in right before deadline.

That card has since been retired and hopefully I won't have this same issue again.

Until next time, take care!
