I have yet to cover a junior varsity game.
It makes sense, the papers want to showcase the varsity teams. Although this does not discount the ability to make great images during these games.
Making a conscious habit of arriving early to each game I often get to see the last quarter of the J.V. game. Depending on the mood of that game I will sometimes make some photographs of it. These images are always just for fun but every once in awhile I will come away with something I like.
The case last night was no different. I arrived during the third quarter of the game and the home team was down by almost 18 points. Although the game was no where close I decided to get my cameras out early just in case.
As the final few minutes started I began to get ready to capture some of Long Reach's disappointment.
To mine and most everyone there's surprise, Long Reach began to rally and actually capitalized off of the p̶o̶i̶n̶t̶l̶e̶s̶s̶ forced fouls to stop the clock.
Pulling within one basket of the game, they were able to tie it up with only four seconds on the clock. Unfortunately for Hammond, Long Reach was then able to pull a foul in the last possible second and win the game with a free throw.
My assigned game was not as close as this but I was glad to be there to witness a great comeback.
Until next time, take care!
