A New Sport

December 04, 2013

Today I was assigned to make some images of two prominent wrestlers for a preview of Catonsville High School's team.

I spent the majority of the time photographing them in the incredibly tight spaces of their practice gym. In between exercises I would shoot from the hip just for fun never thinking anything of the images.

When I got back and was editing the images I found the frame above. Unfortunately I did not stop to get a name or any information because it was more or less an image only for fun.

I find that shooting from the hip can bring back some of the surprise that digital photography lost and I love it.

This is often how I shoot with my iPhone so it felt very natural to start doing it with my Nikon.

My first time shooting wrestling went well. I have another wrestling assignment tomorrow night, this time a full match and I am very excited to get out and shoot the sport again.

Until next time, take care!
